Getting Started
Welcome to the Show
To help you prepare and ensure that
your exhibit experience is a success please take a few minutes to review
the information below.
REQUIRED
HEALTH & SAFETY PROCEDURES
Last year, exhibiting companies were asked to sign and return the Occupational Health & Safety Acknowledgement stating that their staff would comply with the Legislation contained in Ontario's Occupational Health & Safety Act as it pertains to Shows. While 100% of the exhibiting companies returned signed forms less than 10% complied with the Legislation onsite.
The largest issue was that staff responsible arrived at the Convention Centre without the required personal protective equipment. Steel Toe Shoes must be worn by all individuals on the Show floor during move-in. Failure to do so will result in staff not being granted access to the Show floor to set up.
As an employer, it is your responsibility to ensure staff/third party contracts comply with the Legislation. Your booth space is considered an extension of your office and as such it is your responsibility to ensure your staff/contractors comply. The Convention Centre requires all person engaged in onsite activities must be properly trained and made aware of the safety responsibilities as they pertain to the tasks they are performing. In areas designated as construction zones, and where overhead work is being done, hardhats including proper protective footwear are mandatory per the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
To ensure that all parties take safety seriously, we require all exhibitors to read, return and inform your staff of their responsibilities as outlined in the Mandatory Occupational Health and Safety Acknowledgement. Exhibitors will be prohibited from setting up on the Show floor if the acknowledgement form is not completed, returned and complied with.
Please take a moment to review this information with your staff to avoid delays during your scheduled move-in time.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: UNAUTHORIZED SHOW SUPPLIERS
From time to time you may be solicited by unauthorized show suppliers. Often their emails are not personalized and may not refer to the actual Show. It is important to keep in mind that only Official Show Suppliers receive Exhibitor contact information from Show Management allowing them to contact you. To ensure you are connecting with an official Show Supplier, refer to the Show Suppliers section of the Exhibitor website. If they are not listed on the website, they are not associated with the Show.
BOOTH STANDARDS
Start by referring to our
Booth
Standards which must be complied with by each exhibitor as stated in
the terms of the Exhibit Space Contract. In
addition, review
Appendix A: Policies and Standards Governing Exposition as it outlines the responsibilities of exhibitors and Show Management with
respect to exhibitry and Move-in and Move-out procedures.
A HARDWALL DISPLAY IS MANDATORY
Construct
Canada is a hardwall Show so we
will not have drapes running behind or along the sides of each booth. As
such your backwall will back on to the booth behind yours. A standard
pop-up booth qualifies as a hardwall as do retractable banner stands.
Both must cover the entire backwall of your booth space at 8’ high.
If you are in a perimeter booth
(with a building wall behind you) you may build higher than the 8’ but
must obtain approval from Show Management prior to the Show. Please send
an email detailing the height you would like to go and the basic
construction material to Karen Maki, Director of Expositions, at
kmaki@mmart.com.
If you do not have a hardwall booth
you may order one from the official Show decorator GES.
For more information, contact GES Exhibitor Services at Tel: 905-283-0500 or Fax: 905-283-0543 or visit www.gesexpo.ca.
SIDEWALLS ARE OPTIONAL
The projection of 8' high sidewalls
from the rear of the booth to the aisle must be limited to a maximum of
5' from the rear of the booth, allowing 50% visibility at the sides of
the exhibit. Extensions of side rails beyond 5' from the rear of the
booth must be at a height of no greater than 4'. Exceptions will be
made for island booths and peninsula booths (i.e., where at least 3
sides of the exhibit face onto an aisle).
CARPETING IS MANDATORY
Exhibitors are responsible for
carpeting their entire floor space. You may bring your own or rent
carpeting from the official Show decorator GES
Click here for the carpet order form.
If you wish to use some other
material (wood flooring, tile, etc) approval must be obtained from Show
Management prior to the Show. Please email your detailed request for an
alternate floor covering, including any necessary safety precautions
that you will take to ensure that there are no trip hazards, to Karen
Maki, Director of Expositions at
kmaki@mmart.com.
PROOF OF INSURANCE IS MANDATORY
The Metro Toronto Convention Centre
requires all exhibiting companies to carry a minimum of $5,000,000 in
Commercial General Liability for the duration of the Show. Neither Show
Management nor the Metro Toronto Convention Centre will accept
responsibility for injury to person, loss of, or damage to products,
exhibits, equipment or decorations, by fire, accident, theft, or any
other cases while in the building. Exhibitors are also responsible for
ensuring that they have adequate insurance for their own personnel,
exhibits and materials against all such hazards.
If you have $5,000,000 in Commercial
General Liability coverage, please instruct your insurer to prepare a
Certificate of Insurance naming MMPI Canada and the Metro
Toronto Convention Centre as additional insureds. Please have a copy in
your booth onsite.
If you do not have $5,000,000 in
Commercial General Liability, Show Management has secured a Show package
that you may purchase.

We look forward to having you as an

Sincerely,
The Show Team
